Response to "Living With The Bomb"
I never really realized how close we actually could be to nuclear war. All of the countries that the author says has nuclear weapons are not countries that we can consider allies. They all have their own reasons for not liking America and the terrorist don't even seem to need a reason. That is why I agree with the author when he says that we need cooperation among nations in order to prevent nuclear war. We have already seen the capabilities of nuclear warfare with the bombings in Japan. There is no reason why that should have to happen again. I know that everyone wants to defend themselves so I'm not totally against having nuclear weapons. I just hope that is all they being used for.

Response to "Why We Fight"
I agree with the author with the fact that there are justifiable reasons to go to war. If we were to let the terrorist attack us on 9/11 and not have responded, that just would have opened the door for every other country that doesn't like America to come over and try their luck with an attack. I also agree that we shouldn't teach children that violence is bad all of the time. There are certain situations were violence can not be avoided, and they should be prepared to defend themselves if the situation calls for it.

Response to "Scientists respond to Gore's Warnings of Climate Catastrophe"
In the argument over global warming, it seems to me that the opposing side has the stronger argument. After reading Al Gore's "Inconvenient Truth" and then the scientists response, I have concluded that the scientist analysis of global warming is more accurate and better developed than Gore's. Not to say that the former vice-president has not made a valiant effort. I wish more public figures would do more to promote better types of energy sources. Then maybe people would actually start listening. However for his argument to be more convincing, he would need to incorporate more credible sources and more accurate information.

Response to "DNA Test Gives Students Ethnic Shocks"
I think that these test are great for society. In this day and age no one is really one pure race anymore. We all have something mixed in our genetics, whether it be another race or ethnicity. I think that it is great that we now have the ability to have a better understanding of our actual backgrounds rather than just assuming. I personally would love to take this test. I do know that I have a few different ethnic backgrounds other than my parents', and that test would definitely help me figure out exactly what I a m.

Response to "Ultimate Therapy: Commercial Eugenics in the 21st Century"
In response to this article i believe that all of these different types of human genetics being used to try to help people with diseases and other issues, should continue to be supported and engineered. I say this because i believe that anything that is being used for the betterment of society should always be supported. Now i know that this issue can become pretty controversial, especially when dealing with embryonic stem cells. However, i personally feel as though the possibility of helping current individuals with devastating diseases is more important than the possibility of a life that usually the parents don't even want.

Response to "Facebook: Why I Love It..."
In response to this essay, i would have to agree with the author's view of Facebook. Not only does it help you keep in contact with your close friends, but also old friends that you don't get a chance to see often. When your in high school everyone you are friends with is around you or usually close by, so you don't normally worry to much about keeping in contact with them. However, when you get to college you don't get to see the people that you are use to seeing. This makes Facebook very valuable. Not only do you get to keep in contact with these friends, but you also get to see what new things are going on in their lives. Now I know that there is nothing wrong with picking up a phone and giving these friends a call. However, as people get older their lives become busier and some people don't have time to call all of their old friends. Facebook makes this situation more convenient. You can just swing by their page, leave a message on their Wall, and begin to rekindle old memories.
